MIRACLE OF ACUPUNCTURE

I learned of Dr. Koh from a colleague who said her acupuncturist worked miracles on her neck. I remembered how much pain she'd been in and how much better she felt after visiting the New Hope Healing Arts office when my Rheumatoid Arthritis had crippled my hands to the point I could no longer button my blouse or pull up my socks.

Beautiful Joyce welcomed me with her gentle grace and Dr. Koh made me laugh, putting me at ease right away. I explained that I had tried every known over-the-counter pain med which lead to my Barrett's Esophagus (a pre-cancerous condition), then had been on a course of chemo-therapy injections to lessen the pain in my hands, but I rarely got more than a day or two of relief and the side effects made me quite ill. He assured me he could fix that, and all my health complaints, that it wouldn't cost me more than my insurance could cover, and that he really cares about his patients. I thought I was just getting a bit of self-salesmanship, but I was willing to see if he could stand behind his words.

To start, my fingers are disfigured from years of Rheumatoid Arthritis, and the pain was just getting worse. Bending them was excruciating, like trying to use broken bones. I could no longer wear my wedding ring...any rings! But, I got relief after the first visit. The pain was gone for a whole day. The next visit, the pain relief lasted 3 days. After the first month, for the most part, the pain was gone! Now, three months later, I can say Dr. Koh DOES work miracles. I am pain free, and he's improved my general health with herbal medicine. When my Rheumatologist saw my fingers, the reduction in inflammation, and halt to the disfigurement, he was pleasantly surprised and took Dr. Koh's card so he could suggest New Hope to his patients. It's rare for a doctor of Western medicine to see the evidence that Eastern medicine works and become open to it. I felt proud of my choice of Dr. Koh!

He has proved to be generous, thoughtful, conscientious, funny, warm, and a fantastic practitioner. He's as good as his word! I'm sticking with Dr. Koh to turn the years back and give me the health of my youth. I am confident he can do it!

“After having my first baby, I was diagnosed with hypo-thyroidism (slow thyroid).  I was prescribed a synthetic hormone called Levoxil that I was supposed to take very day for the rest of my life.  I took this hormone every day for 2 years and a half.A month ago, I decided on my own volition to get off this medication.  I consulted with my doctor and he advised me to monitor the condition for a month for further blood tests. During this waiting period, I decided to try Acupuncture.  I’ve been intrigued by it for a long time, so I decided to give it a try.  Someone, “I knew” it could help me.  What happened next was an adventure like no other!

After a short consultation, I decided to start.  One of the first things Dr. Koh said, after looking at my tongue, was that me problem was NOT the thyroid but a digestive-liver problem.  I immediately knew he was right.  A problem I wasn’t even aware I had!  Taking a drug for thyroid was treating the symptom.  All my thyroid was saying was, “Hey, there is a problem somewhere!”  Dr. Koh, with the use of Acupuncture and herbs, was able to address and handle this problem with enormous care.  With every visit more and more “symptoms” disappeared in front of my very eyes and that is because Dr. Koh was addressing the real problem.  For the first time I don’t feel like a patient.  I am healing myself with Dr. Koh’s guidance. Major changes happened after the first visit and every visit thereafter.  All of a sudden I was totally aware of the energy that surrounds me.  Something I knew in theory but had never experienced.  As for the needles…What needles? This is treatment is practically painless not to mention relaxing. I have recommended Dr. Koh to dear friends of mind and now they too swear by Dr. Koh and Acupuncture.  You owe it to yourself to give it a try.”

I'M 15 POUNDS LIGHTER AND STILL COUNTING

I would like to take this opportunity to give thanks to Dr. Koh. Because of him, my life has changed dramatically. For years, my life was consumed with pain, discomfort and sadness. I was living with the pain of debilitating migraines, pain in both my neck and back, and was constantly struggling to lose weight. I had suffered for so long, that I honestly felt there was no hope of ever feeling well again. Over the years, I had been to many doctors who tried to help, but the treatments were only a temporary fix to my problems. The normal form of treatment I received was prescription medication but that did not cure me, it would only mask the true underlying problems. I was tired. Tired of feeling sick with constant migraines, tired of living with the daily pain in my neck and back and I had all but given up hope I would ever be able to lose weight. Despite all of my efforts, I was determined to find someone who could not only make me feel better, but someone who could cure me of my pain. Then I met Dr. Koh.

One day I was reading a magazine and I read an article about Dr. Koh and his treatments. I had always been intrigued with acupuncture so I wanted to find out what, if anything, acupuncture could do to help me. I also visited Dr. Koh's web site and was "thrilled" to learn he could not only help me with my pain but with my weight as well! I immediately called New Hope Acupuncture to make an appointment.

From my first meeting with Dr. Koh, I felt a level of professionalism and sincerity about me as a person that I had never experienced before. After consulting with me about my medical history and a brief examination, we discussed my plan for treatment. I did not want to wait any longer and decided to begin my treatment that day. I was astonished that after my first treatment, I walked out of his office feeling less pain in my neck and back. It was incredible! And after just a few appointments the treatments I received eliminated years of pain and suffering. The pain is completely gone in my neck and back and I no longer suffer from migraines.

Now it was time to turn our attention to my weight. I had complete faith that Dr. Koh would be able to help me because I was already living proof of his ability heal, and I have not been disappointed. I have had a few treatments thus far and have already lost over 15 pounds! It is a great feeling to wear clothes I thought I would never wear again and to have more confidence in myself. I still have some weight to lose but I know with Dr. Koh's help, I will succeed.

It is wonderful that my family no longer has to ask me if I feel well enough to go places or to do an activity. I no longer have to lie in bed all day because I have a migraine and feel too ill to get up. I am able to wake up and enjoy life, each and every day.

Dr. Koh, thank you so much for everything you have done for me. In my eyes you are a remarkable doctor but a remarkable person as well. I enjoy my visits to you because I always walk out of your office feeling so much better, both physically and spiritually. But most of all, I want to thank you for giving me back my life!

"After the birth of my second child I felt depressed and anxious all the time. I tried working out at the gym and concentrating on work but I felt horrible. I went to the doctor and asked if she could tell me the name of a therapist or someone to talk to but no.  She immediately suggested I go on anti-depressants as I was "too busy to see a therapist once a week" due to my job even after I told her I really did not want to go on medication. I was sent off with a prescription and to call her if I "felt like I was suicidal".  Scary. I took the anti-depressant for 6 months and decided that I did not want to be on it any more.

I decided to try acupuncture which was scarier than the anti-depressant as I had been phobic about needles all my life. Dr. Koh was extremely kind, understanding and very genuine. He seemed to really care about my problem and told me he would help me get off the anti-depression. I felt better after the first treatment and stopped taking the western medication after consulting my MD 2 weeks later. I can't thank him enough. Also as a side note, I told him once that I suffered from severe cramps  during my period and he treated me once and I haven't had a cramp since - that was more than 6 months ago. I moved to Valencia 4 months ago with aches and pains that had me physically and emotionally on a downward spiral at the age of 41. And the reason I moved was so that I could be closer to my doctors. I simply woke up one day and told my husband that I needed to move because I was emotionally and physically drowning. After moving and enjoying the emotional high for one month of being closer to my doctors, I realized that I still had the same aches and pains. That none of my doctors saw my illness and injuries in its entirety. They were only focused on their medical specialty and not the overall quality of my life. Matter of fact my doctors were tired of me and my pain. They treated me as if there was no way a person so young could have so many medical problems. But, I did.

So my story begins with the military. At the age of 26, I had my pelvic crushed by a 6,000.00 lb. pallet during Desert Storm. In that accident, I felt the skin rip off my hip, muscle over stretched and my sciatic nerve catch on fire. After a couple of months of intense physical therapy, I was good a new…so I thought. By the time I was 35, I found out that I had Bursitis on my spine, Plantar fascitis, Osteoarthritis and Muskuloskeletal Disease. By the time I turned 41, my medical condition evolved to having bulging disc in my upper and lower back, bilateral sciatic nerve damage, fibromyalgia, migraines, arthritis, musculoskeletal disease. And, on top of everything…I have an Autoimmune disease called Lupus. I guess it wouldn’t surprise you to hear that I suffered with chronic depression.

I first need to say that I am a Christian and believe God new the medical challenges that I would face. So, God provided me with excellent medical coverage. I am a 100% disabled Veteran and have full medical benefits. I have two Blue Cross PPO and even Medicare. However, all of that doesn’t mean anything if you don’t have a medical provider invested in your overall health, healing and improving the quality of your life. My medical doctors were not invested in my healing like I needed them to be.

One day I received the Santa Clara Valley Magazine and there were many advertisements for businesses in the area. I immediately thought “Great! Now I can find a Chiropractor close to my home. After selecting the Chiropractor that I wanted to try out, I continued browsing and came across Dr. Koh’s advertisement. I read it and thought that Dr. Koh was a compassionate person. I decided to call him and make an appointment although I was scared of needles. I said to myself, “Why not…I’ve tried everything else and I’m still in pain”.

At my first appointment, I was pleasantly surprised to find Dr. Koh’s office in immaculate condition. Also, I was delighted that the staff was professional and greeted me warmly when I entered the office. I did not get a chance to sit down before the staff told me that Dr. Koh was ready to see me. As I walked to the exam room, I noticed how pleasant the office smelled and how clean everything was. When I sat down on the chair moments before Dr. Koh entered the room, I felt frustrated that I was going to have to explain how someone so young could be so broken up in a short period of time. I felt defeated and drained.

But, Dr. Koh entered the room professionally dressed and clean (I guess you can tell that I have an issue with cleanliness). I proceeded to tell him my story and his response was that of optimiscism. He told me that he had high expectations for himself and his ability to help me, to simply give him a month, keep an open mind and trust him. I’d tried everything else…so why not trust someone one that likes a challenge.

Dr. Koh started with my neck and upper back. I was impressed that I did not feel the needles. I was amazed at his ability to adjust the needles position that enabled me to rotate my head more. At this point…I was optimistic. After approx. 2 hours of using every gadget in the office, I had movement in my shoulders, upper back and was pain free. Dr. Koh told me not to get too excited because we were just beginning.

Before I left, Dr. Koh asked me to come back the next day and to bring my entire medical record. I warned him that my medical record is well over 200 pages. Dr. Koh assured me he would read every page. I waited until I was outside of his office to hop and skip to my car. I ran to my husband and cried tears of joy. My husband could not believe my neck and upper back was pain free and all the movement I had. I told my husband that I was no longer taking any pain medication or antidepressants.

The following visits with Dr. Koh were equally successful. In a matter of 2 weeks, I no longer had migraines, my muscles were relaxed and Sciatic nerve calm. After two weeks, Dr. Koh referred me to an excellent Chiropractor who worked on my skeletal structure. And, Dr. Koh had his in-house Massage therapist give me a massage after his treatment. I’m grateful that Dr. Koh had the wisdom to know that my skeletal system and soft tissues had different needs.

After 2 ½ weeks of seeing Dr. Koh, he consistently begins by asking me, “How are you doing and where does it hurts?” I am grateful to say, “I don’t hurt anywhere…I’m just a little stiff”. I’m afraid to tell him that it feels like I don’t need to see him anymore I’m thankful that he provided me with a natural solution instead of shoving drugs down my throat like Western Medicine Doctors. My husband and I would like to sincerely thank Dr. Koh for improving the quality of our life and helping me to finally see that my glass is finally half full, instead of half empty. So…for right now, it’s Me and Dr. Koh

I was a Patient at your office couple weeks back: I went to you to help with a condition, which I was struck with suddenly overnight which paralyzed half of my face, I was extremely impressed and happy about the care I received at your office. You and Joyce always showed genuine concern to help me recover. Always made sure I was comfortable during the treatments. That kind of Empathy is very hard to find in today’s Modern medicine. Dear Dr. Koh,

I just wanted to thank you for all you did for my hand. It has been several weeks since my last visit and it has been wonderful.

I can’t believe my hand specialist told me that there was nothing he could do for me and that I had to quit my job and stop doing what I do in order for my hand to stop hurting.

My hand had been hurting me for several years and the last 6 months became unbearable to perform certain duties at my job. Being an orthodontic assistant requires me to use my hands constantly. If it wasn’t for you, I would be unemployed and still having pain in my hand.

MY EXPERIENCE WITH ACUPUNCTURE

The first time I came to “New Hope Acupuncture”, I had no idea of exactly what Acupuncture was. I try it on my knee because other options that were out there did not seem to be a good route that I wanted to take.

Dr. Joseph Koh was very helpful and explained to me one by one about Acupuncture. It took a couple of sessions to feel great. Now I can walk up the stairs, jog and run without any pain on my knee.

I am very thankful that I came to see Dr. Koh. I have referred my friends and family to him because I trust him.
